Eric's Birthday
Our friend, Jack Erdie happens to have the same birthday as Eric, so we all celebrated together at Jack and Camille's apartment on Saturday the 17th. Jack happenned to be starring in the play Dracula that weekend, so most of the cast joined us to celebrate. Camille ordered this beautiful sugar-free cake. Later that night, we observed at least part of a meteor shower, though our skies were a bit overcast.
Thanksgiving
Lisa and Gretchen did it again! They always make the most wonderful holiday feasts, and this Thanksgiving it was no different. Eric & I brought the mashed potatoes, Lisa made 2 turkeys and stuffing, and Gretchen made many yummy pies. Over a dozen of us gathered at "Chez Iowa" and we each gave thanks for all of the blessings we have had in the past year.
Beach Party
To celebrate the end of our first year in LA on November 23rd, we hosted
a beach party at Will Rogers State Beach, near Malibu. For once, The Flenners
planned an outdoor party and it was a beautiful day! The wind cooled
things off a bit, but we couldn't have asked for a better day. We ate (too
much food for a second day in a row), played volleyball, walked on the beach,
and "Junior" even took a dip in the Pacific Ocean. What do we think
of LA now that we've been here a whole year? Well...you can't really complain
about a place where you can have a beach party in November!
