We would love to give you all some fabulous news, but the outlook for the Flenners in Los Angeles is still tenuous at best. Laurie spent the first half of March working under contract for PPI (the same company that hired her originally as a full-time instructor), teaching in San Francisco, Cleveland and Los Angeles. As soon as she was back in LA, she began marketing her skills as an independent trainer, but it takes time to build up a clientelle. Meanwhile, PPI has not paid the invoices for those 3 classes in "net-30" as expected so it has been a financial struggle. We are hopeful that business will pick up and PPI will pay up soon, so we can have a better outlook for April!
The weekend before her class in Cleveland, Laurie spent a frenzied 2 days in
Pittsburgh trying to visit with family and friends. Many thanks to the Frachionis
for hosting a get-together so I could visit so many people in one place! It
felt so good to sing karaoke with Chick, finally meet baby Maggie, see the new
kitchen at Dad's, and sit around the kitchen table with my niece & nephew
again! Two exhausting days are not nearly enough time to visit everyone, but
I must say that this visit was the highlight of my month!

Another highlight of March was a visit from fellow Pittsburgher and actress,
Sally Randa. She took LA by
storm
while she was here, meeting with contacts, checking out apartments, and attending
a seminar for actors in LA. Highlights of this week include watching the Oscars
at Colin's (Sally & Laurie bought gorgeous gowns for the occasion: $3 each
on Venice Beach), hanging out at Bandera, eating sushi at Todai, and just having
a great friend with whom to share all of these experiences. If plans go well,
we will be seeing a lot more of Sally very soon!
Laurie was in a car accident mid-March, causing over $6,000 in damage to her car (yes, the car we just purchased in September), but with no physical injuries. Insurance is paying for the repairs as well as a rental car while we wait for our car to be fixed.
To those of you who have been keeping us in your thoughts and prayers, to those of you who have been so generous and supportive, we want to give our heartfelt thanks. You give us the hope and strength to keep trying!
