August was a month of returning our lives back to normal. We were grateful to have an income, and plenty of time to spend with eachother. One weekend, we spent an enjoyable afternoon at Malibu beach and lagoon where we also toured the Adamson house, built by a wealthy family who owned a tile factory. The house is famous for the intricate tilework. We also had a chance to visit Aunt Winkie while she was in town on business. We met at Frenchy's Bistro in Long Beach where we treated ourselves to a dinner the likes of which we haven't been able to afford in a long while. This month gave us a chance to catch our breath.

The Fifteen-hundred Dollar Cat

While Eric was still at "Camp," Fatty came down with a Mystery Illness that put her in the Kitty Intensive Care for 4 days. It started when Laurie took her to the vet because of a skin irritation. The vet gave her a steriod shot and Advantage to get rid of any fleas (we think she's allergic to flea bites). Over the next two days, Fatty got increasingly sick, until finally, when she suddenly fell over onto her side, Laurie rushed her back to the hospital. The vet admitted her and put her on an IV and antibiotics. Four days and a multitude of tests later, Fatty was released from the hospital in good health and the vets were perplexed as to the cause of this sudden infection and Renal Failure. We are pretty certain it was a rare reaction to the steroid shot. Fatty is now better...stronger...faster, and we are $1500 lighter.

Eric Returns

After a wonderful farewell party, all the Shakespeare Fesitval Apprentices went their seperate ways and Eric returned to West LA. Laurie's very glad to have Eric back home, where she can keep an eye on him. Eric now goes back on the audition circuit, and since you need to have a vehicle to get around LA, we've purchased a 1989 Pontiac Sunbird from a friend. So after 10 long weeks apart, we're now all happy, healthy, and have hopes for our future here in LA. That's right, we've decided to stay...at least one more year.
